Ian Pearson to discuss energy security issues in Moscow

St. Petersburg, February 20. British Minister for Trade, Investment and Foreign Affairs Ian Pearson, due to visit Moscow on February 20-22, told journalists in St. Petersburg on Monday that he planned to hold a number of meetings at ministerial level.

Pearson said that the energy security issue would be raised at the talks.

Russia which presides in the G8 this year has chosen energy security as a very important subject for discussion; and I think that this issue will also be examined in Moscow, Pearson said.

Moreover, there are plans to discuss expanded Russian-British trade during Pearson’s visit. The Minister said that the bilateral trade turnover now totaled about 11 billion euros and tended to grow all the time. We can accomplish even more, Pearson told journalists.

Pearson also said that he hoped to meet Russia’s Minister of Finance Alexei Kudrin.
