MOSCOW, January 27 – The G8 group of directors for non-proliferation had its first meeting on Tuesday as part of Russia’s Presidency of that international club.
“Vital aspects of weapons of mass destruction non-proliferation were examined,” says a Russian foreign ministry release issued on Tuesday in Moscow.
“The participants pointed to the importance of stepping up coordinated G8 efforts in the area. Russia confirmed its commitment to the G8 common line on non-proliferation as it was agreed in the plan of action for non-proliferation at Sea Island and confirmed in Gleneagles,” the ministry said.
“The next meeting of the directors is scheduled for April 13 of this year,” said the ministry.
