G8 energy ministers to discuss energy security in Moscow: Khristenko

BRUSSELS, FEBRUARY 28 – “G8 energy ministers, due to meet in Moscow on March 16, will mostly discuss global energy security issues,” Russia’s Industry and Energy Minister Viktor Khristenko told a news conference in Brussels on Tuesday.

Khristenko said that the conference would discuss G8 security, as well as the security of developing countries, which determine long-term global energy demand, and of “the poorest countries having problems with energy access.”

“The projected agenda will center on traditional sources of energy, renewable energy sources and energy efficiency at all economic cycle stages, namely, energy production, transportation and consumption. Environmental safety will also be examined,” said Khristenko.
