Russia’s London Embassy presenting government/business initiative on terror

September 14

Russian Embassy in London is presenting the government/business anti-terrorist partnership initiative later today, as was agreed during the G8 summit in St. Petersburg in July.

The goal of the initiative, as formulated by the world leaders, is to increase the role of civil society, notably of the business establishment, in the fight against terrorism. Other objectives include trust building, setting the stage for common threat assessment and coordinated response.

The initiative calls upon governments and businesses, working together to help ensure public prosperity, to pool their efforts in countering the threat of terrorism. World leaders said at the G8 summit that such voluntary partnership would be "based on mutual trust, responsibility, and common interests of the sides involved."

The project will be discussed in detail at the Government/Business Partnership Against Terrorism International Forum in Moscow in November.
