German Bundestag speaker praises Russia for G8 parliamentary meeting organization

German Bundestag speaker Norbert Lammert has praised Russian organizers for how they arranged the meeting of G8 parliament leaders in St. Petersburg.

"I would like to thank the Russians for the magnificent welcome and hospitality. The Russian Federation has created remarkable conditions for fruitful debate, he told reporters after the meeting.

Lammert also reiterated his invitation for other G8 parliament speakers to come to Germany for a similar meeting on September 7-9, 2007 as Germany takes the G8 rotating chair over from Russia next year.
