International Anti-Drugs Conference (Paris II) place World Trade Center Moscow

On June 26-28, Moscow will host the 2nd ministerial conference "Drug Routes from Afghanistan" ("Paris 2 – Moscow 1"), organized by the Russian Foreign Ministry and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

The event will review the so-called Paris process initiated at a similar conference in Paris in 2003 and outline future priorities and goals. It will be held at the Congress Center of the Mezhdunarodnaya Hotel, Krasnopresnenskaya embankment.

On June 26-27, round table discussions will be held as part of the conference, where experts will discuss specific areas of combating the drug threat from Afghanistan.

On June 28, foreign ministers, heads of the Paris process member states' delegations and representatives of international organizations will discuss concrete ways to develop the process and to adapt it to new challenges and circumstances, as well as efforts against drug trafficking from Afghanistan, including trafficking of heroin precursors.

Delegations from over 50 nations and 23 international organizations have been invited to attend.

On June 27, Antonio Maria Costa, UN Deputy Secretary General, and Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, will present the World Drug Report. Participants of the presentation will include Anatoly Safonov, the Russian President's envoy and the Foreign Ministry ambassador at large, and Viktor Cherkesov, director of the Federal Service for Control of Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Circulation.
