March 9 - March 10

Over 300 civil and non-governmental organizations will gather at the Congress Center, World Trade Center Moscow (Gate 4, 12 Krasnopresnenskaya Naberezhnaya, Moscow), on March 9 and 10 for the first-ever Civil G8 2006 forum, the international NGO gathering under the auspices of the Russian G8 Presidency.

We expect around 100 foreign and international NGOs from 35 countries and over 200 Russian national and regional groups who will, apart from dicissions, meet with G8 Sherpas to align common remarks of the NGO community on the core agenda of the Russian Presidency and recommendations on how to build a direct link between G8 and civil institutions.

Apart from energy security, education, and infectious diseases, there will be a series of round tables on business, international trade, development financing and intellectual property; terrorism, proliferation, and regional conflict management; and other free topics.

The meetings will be held equally in Russian and English. The plenary meeting, round tables, and the final news conference will be webcast.
