THE IMC WORKING AREAS

St. Petersburg Pavilion

The St. Petersburg Pavilion is located right at the pier on the grounds of the International Media Center.

This pavilion serves to acquaint visitors with the history and culture of the "Northern capital" and its economic and scientific potential.

National Delegations Pavilion

All working areas for the national delegations of countries participating in the summit and invited countries are in the National Delegations Pavilion.

Printed press working area

This working area has 580 workstations, of which 300 are equipped with personal computers. All workstations have a phone with free international access, high-speed Internet, a desk lamp and three European-standard 220V electric sockets.

The Printed press working area is also equipped with laser printers and copiers.

The news agency booths are also situated in the Printed press working area.

Information Desk

At the Info desk in the Printed press working area, you can receive additional information about summit events, the International Media Center, and materials and documents distributed by the Organizing Committee and the national delegations.

TV-Radio working area

This working area has 117 TV booths, all of which receive the host broadcaster's international TV signal.

10 booths will be designated and outfitted for radio journalists.

A host broadcaster office is also situated in this working area. TV and radio company representatives may inquire here if they have any questions related to their work at the summit.

Stand-up Locations

The International Media Center has two stand-up locations: one adjacent to the "blue zone" with a view of the Constantine Palace, and the other located inside the International Media Center with a view of the St. Petersburg Pavilion and the Gulf of Finland. The total number of positions is 26.

Journalists have 24-hour access to the stand-up locations and do not have to be accompanied by Organizing Committee Media Department officials or security officers, or undergo any additional security checks.

Each position in the stand-up locations will be equipped with professional lighting equipment, electric sockets, high speed and Wi-Fi Internet access, a TV signal line to the host broadcaster and a channel for feeding reverse sound from the studio. The control centers are situated in the lower sections of both stand-up locations.

The stand-up location with a view of the Constantine Palace is designed for 16 positions and adjoins the "blue zone." Eight positions are reserved for the delegations of the countries participating in the summit (one to each delegation) and should be booked through the national delegation's press office (telephone numbers of the national delegations' press offices are indicated under "Useful Telephone Numbers"). The other eight positions can be booked through the host broadcaster office.

The stand-up location with a view of the International Media Center is designed for 10 positions and is located inside the IMC. It has a view of the St. Petersburg Pavilion and the Gulf of Finland. These positions can be booked through the host broadcaster office.

Satellite News Gathering (SNG) Stations

The parking area for SNG stations is near the TV-Radio working area.

Briefing and Press Conference Halls

The International Media Center has five briefing and press conference halls, one with a capacity of 400, two of 200 and two of 100.

Each hall has professional lighting and sound amplifying equipment and booths for simultaneous translation.

Press conferences and briefings of G8 leaders, delegation members and experts will be held in these halls throughout the summit. The schedule is available at the Info desk and is also broadcast on the information channel of the closed-circuit TV network of the IMC. 

Catering

Round-the-clock catering for accredited journalists will be provided throughout the summit in the International Media Center.

The IMC restaurant serves hot breakfasts, lunches and dinners at the established times. The menu includes vegetarian dishes.

7 am-10 am - breakfast
12 pm-3 pm - lunch
7 pm-11 pm - dinner

In addition, snacks, soft drinks, coffee and tea will be available round-the-clock at the restaurant and snack bar in the National Delegations Pavilion.

Pool gathering point

Journalists who have joined pools to cover summit events and have received pool cards should come to the Pool gathering point in the International Media Center at the specified time (see also "Function of Journalist Pools").
